Our outdoor wireless communications devices are specifically designed
for harsh weather conditions and evolving demands for ever higher
performance.
Wireless networks have had a generally poor reputation
because many operators have struggled with errors in their network
design. They have not found comprehensive solutions, and many
deployments of wireless access around the country have been
characterized by random service quality, often based on existing local
expertise.
We have seen examples from broadband providers that have about five
per cent of their customer base on wireless access, but still these
customers take up to 70 percent of their total customer support. Our
solution can change this dramatically.
So far, competing equipment has been designed for the 5 GHz band, but
now Arctic delivers one soft radio platform with an operational
frequency range from 2.3 GHz to 38 GHz. All these frequencies are
appropriate for wireless broadband network links.
Many broadband providers need to use both licensed and unlicensed
portions of the spectrum. Because of this, they end up with different
types of equipment and systems and management becomes complicated.
We can do something about this by delivering one platform that manages
many different types of equipment. 
In cities, it is important to use
licensed spectrum to provide secure deliveries. In more rural areas we
can use unlicensed spectrum. Moreover, as communications regulation
evolves to permit unlicensed or mixed license use of reallocated bands
and whitespace bands, our system can instantly update all soft radio
devices to implement new link policies, thus preserving investment in
infrastructure.
Our system facilitates using a pragmatic combination of licensed and
unlicensed bands: licensed for links between base stations, and
unlicensed for the last mile, freeing more capacity for multi-point
links.
